Code of Ordinances
The authority of local government is derived entirely from the state constitution, state statutes, and local laws. Within the guidelines set by state law, local legislative bodies may enact their own legislation which is generally in the form of ordinances and resolutions. Ordinances establish relatively permanent rules or laws for the community. The Codified Ordinances of the City of Traverse City are available in the City Clerk's office at 400 Boardman Avenue, Traverse City. They can be reviewed in the office or purchased. If you have any questions, please contact Katie Stroven, Departmental Secretary, Office of the City Clerk, at 922-4480 or e-mail kstroven@ci.traverse-city.mi.us.
