Motorcycle Unit

Our Motor Unit consists of six certified police officers who ride police Road King Harley Davidson motorcycles.   These officers are trained through Northwestern Traffic Institute and/or Wolff and Associates. They are re-certified every year to maintain their riding eligibility.

In addition to their primary responsibilities of traffic control, accident investigation, and calls for service, our Motor Unit has escorted many dignitaries:   President Gerald Ford, President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, First Lady Rosalyn Carter, Governors William Milliken, John Engler, and Jennifer Granholm     You may have also observed the motor team escorting the Blue Angels during the National Cherry Festival.   Our team supports the Father Fred charity ride along with rides commemorating fallen police officers through MI-Cops.  Our team has also visited the Police Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C.     The Motor Unit continually strives to connect our department to the public we serve.

The Motor Unit members are:    Officers -  Ellul, Taylor, and Metdepenningen;  Sergeants - Bohrer, Gillis, and Dunklow.

Sergeant Dunklow serves as the command officer for this team.   Please contact him at
