Boardman Lake Trail: May 8, 2015 at 3:00 p.m.
On Friday, May 8, 2015 at 3:00 p.m., the extension of the Boardman Lake Trail will be celebrated. Representatives from the City of Traverse City, Grand Traverse County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority and Michigan Department of Natural Resources will speak at the event. The event will take place at the new recreation area that can be accessed from Lake Avenue. On-street parking is available. Bike racks are located at the recreation area.
The Boardman Lake Trail project extends the existing multi-use trail to 14th Street and includes both a trail along the lakefront and an upland trail for an approximate total of 4,400 linear feet of new trail. The project included the creation of a small lakefront recreation area with a gazebo, seating, deck and floating dock with kayak/canoe watercraft launch. In addition, the project includes a trail connection to Lake Avenue that links Old Towne and Central neighborhoods to the Boardman Lake Trail and recreation area.
