Lane Closures, Traffic Shifts & Detour

6/10 – 7/1/2019

TRAVERSE CITY- The City of Traverse City and Elmer’s Crane and Dozer, Inc. will be resurfacing S. Garfield Ave. between Centre St. and N. Forestlane Dr. (south City limits). The work is expected to start on Monday, June 10, 2019 and be substantially complete by Monday, July 1, 2019. Schedule is subject to change due to weather.

The contractor will mill the existing asphalt surface, replace some drainage structure covers and overlay with hot mix asphalt.

Southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane through the project limits. Northbound traffic between N. Forestlane Dr. and Carver St. will be reduced to one lane. Northbound traffic between Carver St. and Centre St. will be detoured at Carver St. to Hastings St. to Centre St.

Northbound through truck traffic is encouraged to turn right at Boon St. and use Hastings St.

Kinross St. and Baldwin St. at S. Garfield Ave. will be closed to all traffic. Eastbound and westbound traffic on Centre St., Carver St. and Boon St. will be maintained.

The posted speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph prior to and through the project limits.

Proper barricades and signage will be in place. Delays can be expected. Please use alternate routes avoiding this area to reduce congestion.
