FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Subject:           The New and Improved East Eighth Street!

From:              Benjamin Marentette, City Clerk, tcclerk@traversecitymi.gov, 231-922-4480

Issued:             September 25, 2019

It’s the moment you’ve been waiting for… East Eighth Street will be open before the day is over! Get out and enjoy a smooth ride or walk down the new East Eighth Street and visit some of your favorite local businesses.

While the street will be open for travel, there are still some final items that need to happen, such as a traffic light at Boardman Avenue. In the meantime, this intersection will operate as a three-way stop, with signs in place. The traffic lights should be up and running by mid-November, but until then, please use extra caution at this intersection as it will be busy!

Franklin Street is also still under construction between East Eighth and Washington Streets. Crews are working tirelessly to finish additional underground utility work; please continue to avoid the above mentioned area. This closure is expected to remain in place until November 1.

The City realizes that this project has caused disruptions to everyone’s schedule and thanks each of you for your tremendous patience during this busy construction season! We are confident that you will find the new East Eighth Street well worth the wait!
