South Cass St. Bridge

Sidewalk Closure

TRAVERSE CITY- The City of Traverse City will be closing the South Cass St. bridge sidewalk on the east side for safety reasons. The existing stress laminated wood sidewalk is supported by concrete cantilevers over the Boardman River. The concrete cantilevers have deteriorated to a point that the ability to support the wood sidewalk is a concern.

New concrete ramps and pavement markings have been constructed to allow for pedestrians to cross the bridge in the parking lane of Cass St.

The South Cass St. Bridge over the Boardman River is scheduled for rehabilitation. This sidewalk closure and alternate pedestrian way will remain until the bridge is rehabilitated.

We would like to thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation. Please feel free to call Alexander Yockey at 922-4468 if you have any questions, comments or concerns about the work or the schedule.

May 15-21 2016 has been dedicated as National Police Week.

Please join City staff and the community outside of the Governmental Center (400 Boardman Ave.) on Tuesday May 17 at 1:00 pm, for our annual Peace Officers' Memorial Day ceremony. This ceremony commemorates fallen police officers nationwide; but it also carries a more personal meaning as we remember Sgt. Dennis W. Finch who was killed in the line of duty 5/13/98.

Refreshments and conversation will follow at the conclusion of the ceremony. We will congregate in the Cafeteria located in the basement of the Governmental Center.
