Nominations for 2024 Sara Hardy Humanitarian Award

The Traverse City Human Rights Commission is currently accepting nominations for the esteemed 2024 Sara Hardy Humanitarian Award. Named in honor of Sara Hardy, who played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Human Rights Commission over three decades ago, this annual accolade celebrates individuals who embody the Commission's core principles of fostering mutual understanding, respect, and inclusivity within our community.


We invite you to nominate individuals who exemplify the ideals of human rights by completing a Nomination Form (accessible via the link below) and submitting a supporting letter. Your letter should delineate the nominee's humanitarian activities and provide a compelling rationale for their nomination. Please ensure the submission includes the nominee's full name, address, email address, and telephone number, as well as your contact details. Nominators may be requested to present their submissions in person during a Human Rights Commission meeting.


Nomination Deadline: Noon on Friday, May 10, 2024

A reception preceding the award presentation will take place at the Traverse City Commission meeting that evening.


Past recipients of the Sara Hardy Humanitarian Award include remarkable individuals such as Kathy Sanders, Courtney Wiggins, Tom Bousamra, Marian Kromkowski, Ryan Hannon, and Bill and Michelle White.
