Traverse City Police Reserve Unit

The Traverse City Police Department formed their Reserve Unit in September of 1984. The program has continued to grow in size and experience.  The current Reserve force consists of:

                                                      (1) - Reserve Police Captain

                                                      (1) - Administrative Reserve Sergeant

                                                      (3) - Reserve Sergeants

                                                     (20) - Reserve Officers

The unit has continuous training in conjunction with the sworn members of the Traverse City Police Department.  Reserve officers are provided with uniforms, and equipment at no charge to them.

The unit works at all high school sporting events:   football, basketball, hockey games, etc.  They are instrumental in providing the force necessary to provide for safety and security during the National Cherry Festival during the first part of July, when approximately 250,000 people inundate the city that normally accommodates 25,000 residents.

If you are interested in applying for the police reserve program, fill out the form below expressing interest and mail or fax (231-929-0745) it to the department and an application will be mailed to you.  If you would like to speak to someone in reference to the Police Reserve program, please contact Sergeant Ayling at 995-5168.
