About The Veterans Memorial Park

Traverse City’s Veterans Memorial Park is located at 11th Street and Elmwood and honors veterans who have served our country.

Gold Star Mother

In 2017, Traverse City was the first in Michigan to have a Gold Star Mother Statue. The Northern Michigan Blue to Gold Star Mothers group raised the funds for the statue to be placed in the Veterans Memorial Park. The statue is of a mother sitting on a bench holding a folded American flag and honors mothers whose children died in defense of the United States.
