Lateral Pay for Paramedics (Up to $74,358.49 Starting Pay)
Experienced Firefighter/Paramedics may be placed up to the 36-month step.
Paramedic License Paid for by the City
Start as a Firefighter/EMT and advance your career by obtaining Paramedic license within 36 months.
Competitive Wages with Guaranteed Growth
- Salary range: $58,908.30 – $76,961.04 (based on EMT or Paramedic certification)
- Structured step increases with annual raises:
- 4% in 2026, 3% in 2027, 3% in 2028
Work Schedule That Supports Work-Life Balance
- 24-hour shift schedule, approximately 10–11 working days per month
Defined Benefit Pension (Act 345)
- Retirement after 25 years of service (any age), age 55 with 10 years of service, or age 60 regardless of years of service.
- Pension formula: 2.0% × years of service × final average compensation
- Average of the highest three years of compensation within the final five years of service.
IAFF MERP (Retirement Healthcare Funding)
- City contributes 4% of wages
- Employee contributes 2.5% pre-tax
- Funds used for medical expenses in retirement
Residency Incentive Pay
- Additional 6% for living within City limits
Education and Career Advancement
- Tuition reimbursement for job related education
- $1,000 - $2,000 annual education stipend for degrees
