Community Affairs Team

Sergeant Reed Shea

Sergeant Shea oversees all operations within the Community Affairs Team. He ensures the balance between public relations and crime prevention/reduction remain in harmony with each other to provided the highest quality of life and experience for those within Traverse City.

Officer Krista Fryczynski

Officer Fryczynski is currently assigned to the North Boardman (NOBO) neighborhood, and serves as the LGBTQ+ liason. Officer Fryczynski builds community partnerships to address issues arising from homelessness, the NOBO community, and the LGBTQ+ community.

Officer Benjamin Snyder

Officer Snyder is currently assigned as the agencies Traffic Enforcement Officer. Officer Snyder, partnered with his narcotics K9-Kilo, focus specifically on traffic related issues within the city. He also works closely with other Community Affairs Team members while utilizing his K9 partner.

Officer Mike Teichman

Officer Teichman serves as the departments Crime Prevention Officer. Officer Teichman partners with local hotels, residents, and business owners to proactively combat criminal activity within Traverse City. 

Officer Jared Garvin

Officer Garvin serves as the departments Downtown Community Police Officer. Officer Garvin's primary responsibilities are to enhance the quality of life and proactively address issues within the geographical boundaries of TIF 97 and the Old Town TIF. This is achieved by maintaining and further developing partnerships with community members, downtown business owners and the Downtown Development Authority (DDA).

 


We must use the partnerships we establish to proactively develop solutions to problems facing our community. We can do this by using problems solving techniques, such as the S.A.R.A. Model (Scanning, Analysis, Response, and Assessment).
