Pay Stations

There are a number of pay stations in surface lots, on-street parking, and the ground floor of the Old Town Parking Structure. Be prepared, paying for parking at a pay station will require your license plate number.

How do I pay for parking at a pay station?

STEP 1: Park
STEP 2: Remember your space/stall number (numbers can be found on space signage mounted to meter posts or found painted on the ground at the rear of the vehicle)
STEP 3: Look for PAY HERE signs (pay stations are installed by the PAY HERE signs)
STEP 4: Enter your space number and pay for the duration of parking via currency, credit card or Parkmobile.

Please note that several parking locations utilize pay-by-plate.  If you are parked in Lot D, Lot B, or on Lake Ave, then you should enter your license plate number in the pay station in lieu of a space/stall number.

How do I use a credit card at the pay stations?

STEP 1: Insert your credit card.
STEP 2: Follow the instructions on the screen to select time (select 1 to increment time OR select 9 to increase to the maximum time allowed for the space).
STEP 3: Follow the instructions on the screen to accept the transaction.
STEP 4: Follow the instructions on the screen to print a receipt.

Do the pay stations give change?

No. The pay stations do not give change.  Most pay stations will not accept $5 bills and above.  Only pay stations in lots that have 10 hour spaces will allow $5 bills to be inserted.  Users should only insert a $5 bill if they need $5 worth of parking.  All overpayments are non-refundable.

What forms of payment are accepted at the pay stations?

The multi-space pay stations accept both US and Canadian coins, $1 and $5 bills, and credit cards (Visa and MasterCard only). $5 bills are only accepted at pay stations where you can actually purchase $5 worth of parking time.  This is because the pay stations do not give change.

I just noticed I paid the wrong space, what should I do?

Please call our office at (231) 922-0241 and we will take your information.

I am trying to put dollar bills in the pay station, but it will not accept them. What should I do?

You may leave your vehicle, but you must call our office and provide the malfunctioning pay station information (space number and pay station location). You should also provide your license plate number and description of your vehicle (ex. Red Ford Focus). If you should get a ticket, we can cross reference it with our meter malfunction log.
