City of Traverse City Offices Closed
City Commission and Planning Commission Meetings Cancelled
March 16 & 17, 2026
Due to the winter storm warning extending into Tuesday, March 17, 2026, and recommendations from local and state officials urging residents to reduce travel, the City of Traverse City will close offices for non-essential employees on March 16 and 17, 2026. City Commission and Planning Commission meetings have been cancelled.
This decision was made to protect the safety of both City employees and the public during the current weather event. Roadway clearing operations will take time, and conditions may continue to change. City leadership is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with emergency management and transportation officials to assess road safety and determine when normal operations can safely resume.
Essential City services will continue to operate as necessary to protect public safety and maintain critical operations.
Residents are encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel and to follow guidance from local and state authorities until conditions improve.
While travel is discouraged, the City is offering parking at no cost for community members who need to relocate their vehicles to allow for snow removal. Vehicles may be parked on the ground floor (ungated portion) of the Old Town Parking Structure at no cost until Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.
Updates will be shared through the City of Traverse City website and social media channels. The City of Traverse City appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation as we prioritize safety during this weather event for all community members.
