City Coast Guard Committee Seeks Nominations for the Guardian Award
Nominations due March 31, 2023
The City of Traverse City Coast Guard Committee invites nominations for its Guardian Award, established to honor a member of the Coast Guard individual, family member, or entire family who is active at Air Station Traverse City and has shown exceptional community service.
“The Guardian Award is an opportunity to honor an individual or family of our Coast Guard Community for their exemplary service to the Traverse City region. Our dedicated team of Coasties give their all and we look forward to presenting this award to an honoree who has not only dedicated their career to the safety of others, but equally has dedicated their time and talents to the Traverse City community,” stated Polly Cairns, City Assessor and Coast Guard Committee Chairperson.
The Coast Guard is a unique branch of the Military responsible for an array of maritime duties, from ensuring safe and lawful commerce to performing rescue missions in severe conditions. The Coast Guard Committee serves in an advisory capacity to the City Commission to make recommendations on matters relating to the operation, development, and planning of the United States Coast Guard services, facilities, and programs within the City of Traverse City. The City of Traverse City has been a designated a Coast Guard City since 2010.
Nominations are due by March 31, 2023. The honoree(s) will be celebrated at a reception in Spring 2023.
