Project Timeline

Start Date: September 25, 2022
Anticpating Completion: October 2022

The Engineering Department prepared project specifications for the HMA paving projects discussed over the past few years which were deferred during the COVID 19 pandemic. These include two Special Improvement District paving projects previously approved by the City Commission, resurfacing OF East Front Street between Boardman and US-3, and paving the circulation drive in the Cemetery. The City also included the repair of two sidewalk locations that resulted in a homeowner closing their driveway and damage from an irrigation system leak along College Drive.

Due to the window of time seasonally closing on these types of projects, the start date for the following, excluding E. Front Street, is to be determined.

2022 Pavement & Resurfacing Project Locations

  • Location #1 Alley east of David St. north of E. Eighth St. (SID 2020-01)
  • Location #2 Alley west of Rose ST. and North of E 8th ST. (SID 2022-01)
  • Location #3 E. Front St. b/t Boardman Ave. and US-31
  • Location #4 935 Lincoln St (sidewalk on Fern St.) (Adjustment from Driveway Closure)
  • Location #5 College Dr. Sidewalk (Repair from Irrigation System Damage)

East Front Street Resurfacing

The resurfacing project on E. Front Street between Boardman Avenue and US-31 is slated to begin Sunday, September 25, 2022 and be completed by Friday, September 30, 2022. Activities include milling existing pavement and overlay with hot mix asphalt.

Work will be performed overnight between the hours of 6:45 pm and 7:00 am. Two way traffic on US-31 will be maintained through the intersection at E. Front St. with lane closure and lane shift outside of the hours when work is being performed. This project will generate dust, noise, and cause inconvenience.

The street will be closed to all traffic and on street parking will be prohibited when workers are present and work is being performed. If your vehicle is ticketed and towed, it will be relocated to parking lot V at the corner of 100 W Front/Pine. Fees will be assessed for the citations, but the tow fees will be waived. The street and parking will be open to traffic during the day until 6:45 pm. Proper barricades and signage will be in place.

These restrictions are for the safety of the construction workers and to expedite the construction to minimize the time needed to complete the work.

Funding

The project total is $327,101.15 with project funds from the Capital Projects Fund  and Special Improvement Districts.
