Proposed Adult Use Marijuana Overlay District

On November 6, 2018, Michigan voters approved to legalize cannabis for recreational use (adult-use). The City Commission has since been working to implement regulations to allow adult-use marijuana retail facilities within the City.

In 2019, the City issued 13 licenses for Provisioning Centers (medical marijuana retail stores). Currently, 12 medical marijuana locations have maintained a license. A City Commission Ad Hoc Committee was created to establish regulations related to Adult Use Marijuana Retailers.

Public Engagement

In September 2021, the City Commission’s Ad Hoc Committee launched a formal, focused series of engagement opportunities to help shape the development of how adult-use marijuana will be regulated.
