Free Opportunity for Traverse City Residents to Learn Tips to Make Young Trees Thrive
Free Educational Presentation Hosted by ReLeaf Michigan, Tuesday, August 27, 10AM-2PM

All are invited to a free educational workshop led by the renowned “tree doctor,” retired MSU plant pathologist Dr. David Roberts, and Bill Lawrence, ReLeaf Michigan president and retired City of Ann Arbor forester.

The event is organized by ReLeaf Michigan, the only statewide tree planting and education non-profit organization. Since 1988, ReLeaf Michigan has worked with more than 400 communities to plant over 30,000 trees and help educate residents on the value and importance of trees to their daily lives.

The presentation will begin inside at the Grand Traverse Government Center and then move outside for a hands-on demonstration on how to practice pruning cuts. Topics will include how to prune young trees for structure and form, types of pruning, pruning tools, when to prune, and more. Watering, mulch, staking, fertilization and insects/diseases will also be discussed. Questions are welcome and encouraged!

RSVPs are requested to help ensure there is enough material for everyone. RSVP to or by calling 1-800-642-7353.

ReLeaf Michigan’s educational workshops are made possible thanks to funding from the Michigan DNR’s Urban and Community Forestry Program.
