Water Treatment Plant

The Water Treatment Plant has a permitted capacity of 20 Million Gallons per Day (20 MGD).  It provides high-quality drinking water to the residents and businesses of Traverse City and portions of Garfield, Elmwood and Peninsula Townships.  Daily demand ranges from under 3 MGD in the winter months to nearly 14 MGD during prolonged dry spells during the summer months.

For the Year ending December 31, 2017:
     The daily average pumpage was 5.19 MGD;
     The minimum day (12/25/17) was 2.38 MGD;
     The maximum day (7/21/17) was 11.17 MG;
     The total pumpage for the year was 1,892.96 MG
