First Time Voter Sticker Design Contest

September 12, 2022

Following in the footsteps of the ‘I Voted’ and ‘Future Voter’ Sticker Design Contests, the City of Traverse City is excited to launch another creative challenge by seeking designs for its ‘First Time Voter’ stickers.

The ‘First Time Voter’ contest is open to residents, including 9th-12th grade students, in Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Benzie, Antrim, or Kalkaska counties. Artists may provide more than one submission and collaborations are welcome. The winning design will be printed as stickers and distributed to first time voters on Election Day.

Artists are invited to submit designs for the ‘First Time Voter’ sticker design contest beginning September 12, 2022 through September 28, 2022. Once the application process closes, a panel of judges will review and select six finalists. A public vote to select the winners of the six finalists will run October 2 - 9, 2022. The three designs with the top number of votes will win $100 each and be announced at the October 10, 2022 City Commission Meeting.

“The ‘I Voted’ and ‘Future Voter’ sticker design contests have been great successes. When a standing ovation occurred in of our precincts at our most recent election for a first time voter, the City Clerk’s Office immediately jumped at the opportunity to offer creative designs for those achieving the milestone of voting for the first time. Voting is empowerment and the City Clerk’s Office prides itself in supporting lifelong citizens that participate in democracy and celebrate civic pride,” says Benjamin Marentette, City Clerk.
