Traverse City Fire

The Traverse City Fire Department is responsible for providing all emergency life safety services within the City limits. This includes such activities as fire attack and suppression, Medical Advanced Life support, Water Rescue and Hazardous Materials situations, and other emergency/rescue services. The Traverse City Fire Department also provides non-emergency services such as inspections, code enforcement, and Public Education programs.

The department strives to maintain a partnership with the business community in the continued effort to correct life safety and fire hazards through our inspection/prevention and education processes.

The Fire Department of twenty-five consists of the Fire Chief, 4 Captains (1 who serves as Fire Marshal), 4 Lieutenants (1 who serves as Training Officer), a Fire Inspector, 15 Firefighters, and an Administrative Assistant to the Chief.

Recycle Your Batteries - The Fire Department is currently accepting batteries for recycling. Batteries may be dropped off at either Fire Station #1 on Front Street or Fire Station #2 on 8th Street. Please, NO vehicle batteries or hazardous materials.
